Claire Huangci was unfortunately out of the top six ranking after the third round. At the end she had just received the "Diploma of outstanding Merit" at the Hamamatsu Competition. Neverthless this unexpected disappointment hasn't affected this young lady's career on the world stage, and some of her performances in third round is truly memorable.

Her performance of Bach-Busoni Chaconne in the third round is extremely powerful and probably among the very best we have ever experienced. It is quite amazing that this interpretation is coming from a 16 year-old young lady.

Claire Huangci

  • The best piano version I've heard so far.

  • This piece is my cocaine!!

  • @tasteism :) it´s a pitty they don´t have the technique to record those peolpe playing their own songs isn´t it

i mean....how great must a ballade nr1 sound when chopin played it his selt ?! :)

  • In my opinion, this competition was really where Claire showed the first signs of becoming the true artist she is today.

  • She can't play anymore - her technic has really gone downhill - unless there any recent exceptions she's through....

  • It is true what you say about Helene Grimaud. However,at age 16 it was obvious that Claire played Youtube performances of Chopin better than some of her judges in Warsaw in 2010. Can anyone pronounce " gender discrimination " Mercifully, Yulianna Avdeeva so masterfully overpowered the festival that awarding it to a man would have made a laughingstock of the judges. Now hopefully women will be awarded what they earn.

  • so far i thought michelangeli would be never matched..but this is so good. so good. i ll give it an even. and she is 16 ...oh my :D thank god for asians

  • @baroquehippie Ok, the composer created it, everyone admires him or her for that, but, without the performer it is nothing more than a piece of paper - only the performer can turn this piece of paper back into music. And - without the performer, would we ever know the beauty of music? I mean, of Bach, Brahms, Beethoven Chopin and so on? Certainly not!
