We are the product of a long history of cosmic evolution and evolution of life on our planet. We have only been the dominant species for a small period of our Earth's history, yet we can have such arrogance, and the key to our survival as a species is losing our arrogance and rediscovering our bond with nature and each other.

  • Half truths and unproven assumptions. You assume there is alien life. If there is thousands of other earths, yes our pety wars would mean much less. But also our whole planet, our existence, our actions would mean nothing. Good or evil, black and white would become just an insignificant blue dot indeed. But I don't think our existence is meaningless and I don't think there is life anywhere else in universe.

  • @xmailacc123 Thanks for your comment. There are over 700 planets which have already been discovered around other stars. Current estimates suggest that there could be many billions of planets, just in our galaxy alone. Humans, for a long time, thought they were the centre of the universe until it was discovered that a) the earth is just another planet orbiting the sun b) our solar system is just one of many and c) our galaxy is just one of many.

  • @xmailacc123 Yet some people still hold to the belief that earth is somehow special in the bigger picture, that humans are superior. This breeds religion. It's rather an arrogant view to have that we humans are unique and that there is no other life in the universe. Given the number of extrasolar planets already detected, is it so impossible that there could be another earth? Anyway- the point of the video is that people need love and compassion to survive as a species

  • @xmailacc123 Most people do hold a black or white, good or evil view of the world, but that is conditioned in us from birth and we grow up believing the world is like that. What we consider good and evil is only our own judgement of things. The world/universe isn't that simple really. If you're looking for meaning in life, try philosophy or religion. If you want to know how things work, only science can answer that

  • Life is not that easy to create or to keep alive for 4 billion years. Hundred billions of galaxies with billions of stars still comes way to small when you add all necessities to have intelligent life. Even creator of SETI program does not believe in aliens after searching for signals for decades.
