What a poorly researched and reasoned video: Fact-twisting ("not the best" vs. "not working"), ill-sourced, over-generalizing (compulsive divorce mediation about parenting schedule in England), out-of-context findings and logical errors (eg, the number of people using mediation says nothing (!) about its success, only about its acceptance).
If you had just ranted about politics & justice system, I might have agreed, but this pseudo-science fails to convince and is itself phony at best... :(

watchfulneighbor,
Sorry you feel this way.
In fact the video clip quotes one of the most exhaustive UK government reports on the value of mediation. Don't blame the video!
It is commonly assumed 'mediation' must be tried because of the associations with reasonableness and compromise. In reality it simply does not work without the principle of 'shared parenting'.
Once again I am sorry if this does not correspond with your own experience.
Anybody else wish yo contribute.

Okay, I forgot to mention that mediation and mere compromise usually should not go together (acc. to research and many m. approaches; see also "Getting to YES" on positional bargaining).
That being said, I thank you for your calm reply and apologize for my harsh words. I still think that you largely confound "mediation" with one specific application in one specific area etc., where mediation is probably not the problem per se... but I should have said that in a constructive, appropriate way.

watchfulneighbor,
Thank you for your response.
Mediation does work for some people in some circumstances but as a general rule in as far as it is used in 'custody' disputes it does not work because one side always holds the 'whip hand'. (I think this video clip and the others that I have produced make these circumstances plain).
The video clip is based on incontrovertible research. Therefore I believe your original criticism is invalid.
Many thanks,
Kingsley Miller
