Prom Night in Mississippi Clips

In 1997, Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman made an historic offer to the high school in his hometown of Charleston, Mississippi: He would foot the bill for the school's senior prom—on condition that both black and white students be allowed to attend. Even though the students shared classes and every other aspect of school life, Charleston High had a tradition of holding two proms—one white, one black. Freeman's offer was ignored. In 2008, he made it again. This time, the school accepted and history was made, but not without significant opposition. PROM NIGHT IN MISSISSIPPI tells the highly entertaining and ultimately hopeful story of the fallout from Freeman's offer, as senior students of Charleston High rally in preparation for the school's first-ever integrated prom.

Do they teach children of Mississippi that so called "white race" or "white consciousness" wasn't even found in law in Virginia until 1691. The meaning of so called "white race" was to make buffer between rich (european) tiny elite and huge working class people of every ethnics. Until Bacon's Rebellion 3/4 of all bound-labour was actually european-american and only 1/4 were african american. Bacon rebells were both whites and blacks with strong solidarity. That's why they "found the white race".

Watched the film tonight and people it is great... very muched enjoyed the film and bought the soundtrack from already as the music throughout the film is awesome... I got it on fillmsi.co.cc. you won't be dissapointed.

I watched people walk out of the movie on the opening night at filmsi.co.cc... I was disgusted with the empty headed blocks. Interpretating a movie and discussing about it feels better to me than being told the end of the book with no reason to think about it a second time ^^

This was a GREAT movie XD but it was a little hard for me to understand the first 2 times watching on filmsi.co.cc. XD i finaly put it all together by the 3rd go around. XD Just to be safe can someone tell me what its about xD

@Lesrevil08 Lol really, dealing with rejection, you mean to say that back when he was young, which was some time ago because he is quite old, it isn't possible that he received, experienced, and witnessed some racism in these areas? I've read, and saw footage, that it was pretty bad some time back, nothing like today or the possible situations in this film.

I'd still agree that maybe the movie possibly didn't present the whole picture or situation properly.

@darknessofkrish He is trying to race bait and deal with possibly personal problems with the white community that ignored him or rejected him. Its normal to have a vendetta against ones that reject you, and this is him trying to expose people he have problems with. But I dont think he got as hateful as he could, so thats a weak argument.
