  • I disagree with Number 2, If any other captain had gone through what Decker did Even Kirk they would have a good reason to act like decker did

  • @JonThomas92 Oh he might have had a reason, that makes sense, but he was batcrap crazee.

  • I had no problem with Jellico. He reminded me of my first CO when I was in the Navy. Very military minded and a micromanager but ultimately a very capable commanding officer.

  • @glytchd Thanks, Voyager certainly had issues with the writing. It could have been a brilliant show, but combine the overuse of the reset button (which obviated aspects of the show's premise that made it so promising) and a generally weak cast/weak writing ruined it. I'm not a Roddenberry purist though. DS9 is my favorite Trek by a good margin, and I enjoyed TNG's middle seasons as well (not a fan of the movies for the most part, though).

  • @Quinstol perfectly put. I couldn't has said it better myself except to add that these problems all come from Bad Writing and Really stem from Rick Berman. I'm just a hardcore purist that blames Rick for the bad-changes after Mr Roddenberry died. Why? EXECUTIVE PRODUCER; THAT is why. Just look at the Transition of stuff in TNG from S4-S5... pretty Soapy even! Of course DS9 is a PRIME example of how to milk a Franchise while KILLING it. If only Quark & O'Brian wern't relegated to 2nd String.

  • @AnonymousElektron Hear-Hear and well said... I'll reiterate: BAD WRITING/Directing.. All coming back to..What?? -BAD DIRECTING- Can anyone say RICK BERMAN?

  • @Tyco200 Normally I have extensively long comments.. Instead I'd just like to Ditto what Tyco said! I thought the same thing when i FIRST seen the Eps way back when :) I'd like to add that I Disapproved of said Cpt's end-game Choice but NOT his reasons... Were I in his situation... I might do the same. In either case, There WAS another solution to that Situation.. but leave it to Hollywood & BAD WRITING to kill a good episode... Much like that Eps Titled "one" gee that coulda been a GREAT!

  • 0:41 A Ballchinian from MIB :-D

  • Useless (but hopefully somewhat interesting trivia). The role of Decker was originally to be played by Robert Ryan, who had a scheduling conflict or some such. From what I've read, he was going to play the character with much less sympathy and personal guilt/grief of the loss of his crew, and much more like a Jelico type, with the added bonus of an Ahab-type revenge complex.

  • Now I like to think, that the last thing going through Captain Maxwell's mind (other than that phaser set to kill), was to wonder how the hell Andy Dufresne got the best of him.
