i have a 34 year old d-35 martin i'll put it up against ANY thing..for clear rich tone..good guitars come from use..the more it played..the better it will ring...and of course..haveing a talant like dan dont hurt
I am quite certain that this is Dan's signature Martin guitar, the Dan Tyminski model. I have heard it right up close and it sounds really clean, even and powerful without that big boom on the bottom; a lot like Dan's 40's D28 Martin, but newer sounding.
This was written by Mark Lindsay and Keith Allison of Paul Revere and the Raiders. It appears on the Alias Pink Puzz album. It has become such a bluegrass classic that it has been attributed to many others, mostly Jimmy Martin.
Dont get me wrong, I love Martins, but D-45s are crap. WAY too gaudie and so much inlay the sound is deadened. Bourgeois is one of the best builders in the country. All of their instruments are handmade, whereas martins are not anymore. A base model Bourgeois is better than anything being made by martin today.
Yah!!!! Amazing!!!

... Am I the only one who was expecting a Pete Townshend-esqu windmill strum from the banjo player during Dan's solo?
