Yes, What I heard on the news is that the residents did not know what to do if there a fire. Like: If there a fire, stay where you are and wait for the LFB. The residents never had a fire drill.
Also found this out: Southwark's Food, Health and Safety Unit does not enforce Fire Safety. Advice should be sought from the Fire Officer at New Cross Fire Station on 020 7587 4935. This I found on the Southwark Council website. I live near Camberwell (Lilford Road under Lamberth)

I'm just down the road from Camberwell, on the delightful Aylesbury estate...the balconies that double up as fire escapes are cluttered with old fridges, bikes & so on...is this not the job of the LFB to ensure that these buildings comply to fire regulations??

"pitseamarket"'s comments are sick, this is NOT the time or place to express your racist remarks, children died they were not aware of their colour or creed.

Well where would you like us to house you, A big mansion, plus benefits. Your lucky to come to this country and have a roof over your head, if you have not much money and your housed by the council in flats, then stop making babies and try to work harder and get out of the situation your in. we all know but to scared to say, that raising a child in those environments (black society) your prone to be in a gang or if your not, your mugged every weekend, by blacks not whites.

The greedy london councils like to warehouse people in high rise tower block death traps.
The rich people who control the council are ok, they dont have to worry.
how sad.
