When have the states been limited in music?
They basically spawned Rock and Roll through the Blues and Jazz scene. The whole punk rock genre started with the Ramones. Britain had Lennon while the Yanks had Dillon. The seventies was mostly all British with Queen and Zeppelin. While the eighties was the man in your favorites Michal Jackson, who sold out tickets in the UK in minutes.
