TKD has never been very successful in K1 because it requires a much larger ring. To be successful at TKD you need to be very quick on your feet. You need to strike and then be able to get out of the way of your opponents attack. K1 ring is too small for that style of counter fighting. That is why the top players are always Muay Thai or Kyokushin because both styles teach you how to stand and take punishment from your opponent and wait for an opening.

@pampero981 esactamente

Pierre kick and punch not in full contact...he use to kick like in Taekwondo ITF ring...but he score lot of point though...
-
@1nicaCualquiera Guenette had the wrong strategy too, he seems to think he can impose on andy at close quarters. Brave but silly 'cannon to the left of him, cannon to the right, into the valley of death rode pierre guenette'

Hug almost KO the referee by his heel kick. :D Andy forever.

@1Amerikkka why the racism? just enjoy the video and shut your computer,have a nice day.

taekwondo fighter will always be at a disadvantage when fighting in a ring.Pierre found himself cornered constantly him being taller didnt help either.either way hug was the better fighter in this match he deserved to win.

@JaffraySlum Not only that, he wasn't experienced in the fighting format. There's a world of difference in fighting in open platform vs. closed square ring. I seen him fight Kyokushin guys and won. His ITF training allows him to hit fast and get out fast, stay out of the opponent's reach then hit him again. You can't really do that in a ring. And yes, Andy was much stronger and more experienced Ring fighter than Pierre. That's what did it too.
