The Oral tube has a valve inthat needs to be depressed to deflate. The cap prevents dirt and debris getting inside, but does not hold the pressure.

Thanks for your note. If the cap is not secured on the inflating tube, then you risk the bladder deflating as this is where the valve is found. The valve does need to be pressed.
