Brisbane Lions v St. Kilda - Nick Riewoldt Incident - Part 1

* Highlights (or lowlights?) of the infamous 2005 Round 1 clash at the Gabba, broadcast on GTV Channel Nine (9) Melbourne, Thursday 24th March.

* Jamie Charman charges recklessly into St. Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt. Riewoldt is momentarily dazed but continues to play.

* Minutes later, Riewoldt dives for a mark but lands heavily on his right shoulder. As he staggers back to the forward line, Mal Michael and Chris Scott deliberately bump Riewoldt's injured shoulder. Aaron Hamill flies the flag for the Saints.

* Tempers flare as Hamill and Scott antagonize each other. Hamill gives away a 50 meter penalty with a glancing backhander that dislodges one of Scott's teeth.

* Chris Johnson has his jumper torn when grappling with Andrew Thompson and Stephen Baker. Martin Pike intervenes with a headlock on Thompson.

* 'The Story So Far' continued in Part 2.....

@CaptainHowdy187 lol A bit touchy. Having played both games both take skill but AFL is more about muscle than skill. The real world game is soccer not AFL, AFL is a game of muscle with ever changing rules, Soccer a game of skill played throughout the world.

The MCG routinely get's 70,000 spectators on a Friday AND Saturday and sometimes Sunday EVERY single weekend and if one of the matches involves Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon, Hawthorn then it's not uncommon to get a crowd of around 80 - 85,0000 sometimes over 90,0000 spectators at a game.

AFL is an INCREDIBLY popular sport over here and 99/100 people you'd run into in Melbourne would tell you they AFL and ONLY AFL football.

So imagine in the AFL, if there was no contact what so ever, half the time the losing side doesn't even have a score on the scoreboard AND the match winning goal was from a free kick.
