"Houdini" - Kate Bush (Cover)

This song (tied with my last cover for favorite song from Kate's album The Dreaming) has enchanted me since the first time I heard it, and when my fellow Kate fanatic Tom requested it, I couldn't refuse the challenge! :) And be sure to check out his lovely piano covers of Kate songs: http://www.youtube.com/tompilch

Now, having said all that, this song is without a doubt the most ambitious song I've ever taken on. I had to listen to Kate's version and play along by ear, and then transpose it to a better key for me! If I made any errors in this process, I apologize!

Now, about the song! SUCH a great story. Sung from the perspective of Mrs. Houdini (yeah, I'm just that confident! Haha), who would pass her husband the very key needed for his death-defying escapes in their "possible final kiss" before each show! They loved supernatural stuff, and before he died, he told her that if a medium ever uttered the phrase "Rosabelle, believe" when saying they'd reached him on the "other side" that they in fact had. The song is Kate's imagined take on what would have happened had a medium been successful! It switches back and forth between present (in sceances) and the past (his illusions).
