Henrietta came to CAS the day before Thanksgiving. She was dropped off by a woman whose sister had bought the turkey from a live market in NYC. When she discovered what personality Henrietta had she couldn't watch her become the table centerpiece and so she brought her to CAS. Ironically, the woman went out and bought a Butterball turkey for dinner.
Henrietta loved getting attention from every person that visited the barn. She showed many just how unique each animal is (yes, turkeys too)! Because she was bred to grow very large, very quickly, she had chronic foot problems due to her size and died two days before Thanksgiving 2011.
You can read a blog about her passing here: http://casanctuary.org/2011/11/giving/
