@amartinjoe many so called "great" figures in history were actually gay, or had gay experiences. As for friedrich, some historians say he was gay, other say he was not. In fact, there is not one evidence, that he realy was. In my personal opinion to call him gay goes to far, because it is speculation.

While this docu is a bit overboard on the PC crap I still enjoyed it quite a bit. Made me feel classy and want to decorate my house in gold and ivory while sporting a powdered wig.

Not a word in this documentary (at least part I watched) on how allies illegally handed down 80% of Prussia to Poland and how polacks in 1945-50 deported or murdered 13 million Prussians and ruined forever historical german cities like Danzig or Breslau which today are hollow shells.

Heart of Prussia was beating in Ostpreussens - region artificially divided in 1945 between Poland and Russia. Even Royal Castle of prussian kings in Konigsberg was blown up by Russians and covered with concrete.

I just finished watching this documentary. At first I sighed, when it started with Hitler, as I already heard that British television was almost obsessed with everything Nazi-related but I thought it all developed very nicely and one could see that Prof. Clark put a lot of effort into it, visiting the v. Kleists etc. Also I was impressed by his German skills as they seem perfect. I finished school a year ago and learned nothing about Friedrich d. Großen. I hope that will change for my kids.
