After you've gone Climax JB --Herb Hall 1979

Clarinettist Herb Hall with Climax Jazz Band at a Peter Appleyard TV show from Toronto Canada in 1979 .

Shortly after I arrived in Toronto from the Netherlands in 1966 I used to make frequent visits to the Colonial Tavern on Yonge Street. Many famous jazz groups would appear there on a weekly basis. One was Wild Bill Davison and his Jazz Giants with Herb Hall on clarinet.
I bought their LP produced in Toronto by John Norris on his Sackville label. Herb plays in a similar style as his brother Edmund. It was just fantastic to have Herb perform with our band on one of the Appleyard shows. At the same time he was featured for a full week as a special guest with our band during our long standing engagement at the 300 seat DJ's Tavern in the New Hydro building in downtown Toronto.
Climax Jazz Band with Bob Erwig cnt, Jim Buchmann clt, Geoff Holmes tbne, Jack Vincken bjo, Chris Daniels bass and Max Littlejohns drums

  • Herb was one of the best and a really nice person! He played with Red Balaban and my husband Gim Burton at the Town House in NJ in the 1970s.

  • Herb was awsome, and nice wig as well.

  • Great!!!
