A Vampyre Story (Review)

In this review I talk about a modern title. A Vampyre Story. This is a so called 2.5D adventure game and utilizes some of the greatest 2D art I have seen in an adventure game to date. This combined with some truly inspired and thoughtful game design delivers a truly fun and excellent game. Yet, for all its greatness, there are some inherent problems in this title. Can amazing graphics make up for a lack of story? Well.. no.. not really.. but it sure helps!!

This is the 3rd review I have ever done and I think I am getting better.

Thanks for the review of this game, I havent seen a adventure game for quite a while now. I usaually play games like monkey island, grim fandango,the longest journey etc. Witch were some of my highlights in adventure gaming. But this game is just amazing, just gotta buy it looks great! Btw what kind of video recorder do you use? Because i haven't found one with that high quality, i could really need one when i am going to make some videos myself. Thanks for posting these videos. They are great.

Depending on the game I use one of 3 diffrent recorders... FRAPS (Freeware), ZD Soft Recorder (Cheap Shareware), or CAMTASIA (Expensive professional soft I use for work). I would recommend ZD Soft and FRAPS... there are plenty of other free recording options... just google opensource screen recording.

I'm an old-school adventure gamer who loved AVS as well. (It's one of the few new-ish games, besides The Black Mirror, which I really enjoyed playing.) I found myself nodding in agreement with everything you said in this review. :)

This game is such a gift to adventure genre fans. Like the best one out of the past that got published a decade later. The mood of that screen with the bridge between the "nail place" and the stadium just stunned me. Also i got to play it without a walkthrough and i think the fact it's easy is just a correction to the past games that relied on frustration and hard puzzles to improve game duration. The only major flaw to me is the dead end issue with the perfume thing. Scripting error.

@Clesarie In that case - you should seriously consider playing Discworld II: Mortality Bytes if you haven't done so. It's an old game, but it's awesome as hell and just as funny.

Thanks for the review. I saw this game for a very good price but wasn't sure what it was all about.
