i ship out in oct and my mos is military police and i would LOVE to get a dog, wat do i need to do in order to make that happen???

@s5b678 thats good to know my father was a k9 handler on the dmz in the 70's then got out and was a k9 instructor for our local police dept in pa until he retired in 2001we had many wonderful dogs over the years i have 2 shepherds now they are great my wife feels very safe when im at work and she's home alone

@jdietz730 In most cases these days when the dogs retire they are adopted. The military has finally started treating these warriors with the respect they deserve.

@jdietz730 some dogs do get put down when they get to old, but those are only ones that are overly vicious. A lot are adopted by a previous handler or even a qualified civilian.

My husband is a sheriff's officer K-9 and many of law enforcement K-9's are from military dogs trained by these wonderful handlers - THANK YOU!
