  • Not exactly ahead of their time! The '56 Studebakers were in fact among the oldest truck designs in the industry, dating back to 1949! Chevy and GMC were new for 1955, Ford was new in 1953, and Internationals dated back to 1950. Only Dodge, whose design came out in 1948, was older...

    and elements of the 1949 design continued into the new "Champ" pickup, itself based on the 1960 Lark!

  • These trucks were way ahead of their time....better than anything else offered...GM couldn't stand to have them in business,.....stopped selling them engines.....

  • Funny how marketing on the trucks really hasn't changed at all.
