This is a beautiful hand-turned 'steam' organ built by Alan Pell Music and filmed at the 2010 Lincolnshire Steam Spectacular. Alan has very cleverly added a small boiler and chimney to this organ to produce the steam for this 'steam' organ - the name people incorrectly gave to mechanical organs that they thought used to use steam to make the music. This was slightly correct, as in the past before electricity was invented, a small steam engine was used to provide the rotary force to drive the organ's flywheel that was then used to drive the cardboard music through its key frame, and also to rotate the crankshaft that worked the bellows that produced the air that was blown through its pipes and pnuematic action and thus making the sounds that together then produced the music.

This 31-keyless organ that Alan Pell is seen here playing in this video, uses perforated paper roll music and has bellows. Alan is hand-turning the organ and providing the rotary force himself instead of an electric motor or steam engine that could be used instead to provide the rotary motion at the rear of the organ. The organ's melody registers are manually controlled by means of 3 brass knobs on the right side (as viewed from the front) of the organ and these are connected to what are known as 'sliders' and these are either pulled out to turn on a register/rank of pipes, or pushed back in to silence it as the music plays.
