Minecraft is available for digital download from the official Minecraft site here: http://www.minecraft.net/

Here's the offical site's description of the game:

'Minecraft is a game about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine. At night monsters come out, make sure to build a shelter before that happens.'

Currently in beta and being developed by one guy, you can play an older browser-based version of the game for free or pay a reduced price for the beta version which can be played in a browser, locally on your PC or on multiplayer servers.

The game is due to receive a full release sometime in November 2011; updates are free once you purchased with fixes and new additions being added on a regular basis.

If you're a creative type who can overlook the game's simple graphics you'll fine an engrossing game with hours of creative fun.

The usual retro - modern gaming vids will be coming soon but this is just a little look at minecraft that I'll upload every now and again to document my early adventures and perhaps introduce to game to those that have never tried it.

Hope you enjoy.

The music used at the beginning of this video is from the game, created by C418; it's great and can be listened to and purchased here: http://c418.bandcamp.com/album/minecraft-volume-alpha

  • Great stuff matey - I started playing Minecraft a few months ago... its easy to lose so many hours playing it... lol

  • @XFile2708 Too true mate, it's a great little game to pass the time and crazy how addictive it can become once you really start getting into your stride with building different things. :)

  • Nice video mate, what sort of specs do I need to run this/ I know its simple but so is my PC.

  • @lawnboyspost1975 @lawnboyspost1975 My PC certainly isn't state of the art but it depends how 'simple' you mean mate. :) You can adjust the graphics options such as view distance etc which should allow most people to play it. Although it has fairly simple graphics it does have to render a lot of terrain so it can be more demanding than you'd expect. If you google for 'minecraft demo' you should come across a 90 min demo that pc gamer has a link too, a nice way to test it out. :)

  • I won't pretend i know anything about MInecraft, i know sod all on this world, never played it. But from what i've seen from your vid mate the developer deserves commending on trying something different in my view. Now! Is it possible to build an 80's time machine in the world of (MC), hehe!!! Nice insight mate anyhow. Agree, those zombies freak me out too. :D

  • @MENDEZ1628 I'm sure you could build a giant Tardis if you put your mind to it mate, lol. :) The zombie noises can be off putting when you suddenly hear them in a dark cave but worse than that is the creepers; all you hear is 'ssssssssss' turn around and *boom*. ;) Good fun.

  • @Snestastic Some time this week I think, time permitting. :) Hopefully the next one will feature some zombies & creeper action etc. Glad you liked it though mate; it's a bit of a marmite game but it does allow you to be creative if you're into that. :)

  • @Drexus80 Sounds pretty intresting Daz, when will day 2 be uploaded? You've got me hooked with the 1st vid :)

  • @Serraxor Yes it's probably a good idea to get through those shmups first, because if you get the bug for it you can kiss goodbye many hours. :)

  • @DarkSphinxx Yeah that would be cool. :)
