@BelloBudo007 theres only crowds around busy train stations and shopping districts - theres plenty of places in japan without crowds - in fact MOST of it.

I miss a lot of things about Japan but don't miss the crowds at all. I can certainly see the good wife and I tripping down to Shizuka Ryokan for a few days of R&R without the exhaustion of air travel.

This cannot compare with the ones I've seen in Japan.

We like to think that Shizuka Ryokan is highly authentic and perhaps unique as a representation of the traditional style of Japanese inn. It has attracted a fair share of video and still photographers keen to find the Japanese aesthetic a whole lot closer than the long flight from Australia to Kyoto. Certainly, is the likely to be the only ryokan in the world with Kangaroos grazing in the surrounding bushland.
