@131cernunnos These child predators often act out again. Look at that little girl, Jessica Lunsford, who was raped and murdered by a repeat sex offender. I don't trust them and I've done a lot of research on this subject and there isn't a cure. If they don't act out again they are still thinking about it. A pedophile wrote a book comparing it to potato chips. The craving is always there but they must distance themselves from kids.

@mia0899cs i disagree, the recidivism rate is 4% from what i read, but any way .

As someone with 8 years experience in the study of sex offenders from what I've seen the 3% that do reoffend have mental/emotional or substance abuse problems or both. The sex offender that abducts, rapes, murders is rare but that small percent gets the most sensationalist media coverage.

If all sex offenders were from the same cookie cutter the way that society tends to generalize them, then the streets would be running with blood from offenders constantly raping and killing. But that's not the case, why? Because most of them took a wrong turn in life somewhere in the past, learned their lesson, and just want to live as a normal, productive American citizen.

Pain was what led them to offend in the first place, so I'm for the opposite being the cure; compassion. Healing offenders by default protects society. If we really care about the safety of children, then we help offenders solve their problems. But not just them, all adults, teens and neighbors. Because anyone can go through a lost period in their life, commit a repulsive act, and find themselves listed on the sex offender registry.
it sad that you would reather see a life end then help them out. im sorry you were hurt as a child and never got help. but people do make honest mistakes even if they are horribal ones

@ibaho124 Thanks, but I was blessed not to be child molested. I watch documentaries on children who were molested such as Jaycee who was kidnapped at 11 y.o. by a repeat offender. Repeat offenders killed Jessica Lansford and of course Meghan, which started the Meghan's list.

it is all about feeling better. period! and that is what anyone dose something the columbine kids drug addicts sex offenders. all having a troubled life in some way and there only choice is do the thing that makes them feel better or kill them self. we have been told that these people are "unfix-able" but a great portion of them are, ou just have to spent some time with them to understand them better.

@ibaho124 I am talking about children and not about an 18 y.o.dating a 15 y.o. You state that sex offenders are the same as drug addicts, all having a troubled life and their only choice is do the thing that makes them feel better or kill themself. A sex offender would be better if they chose to kill themself instead of hurting/killing a child. There's no excuse.
