It takes about 2 months for me to complete 100 feet of 7.25 inch gauge railroad
track. Here I've added a new spur that connects the main loop to the end of my
driveway that will be used for loading and unloading heavy locomotives and cars.

It includes a new switch, and my first ever straight bridge. All other bridges on
the line are curved. At the end is a receptacle that will connect to my cable
lift which is still under construction.

This video show running from the long tangent and over the new spur and
back. At the end is a short narrative describing the spur. - Bill

  • Where did you get the rails?

  • @333jirachi

I had them extruded at Argyle Industries in Branchburg, New Jersey.

  • @islandpondrr So they made rails for you? That's awesome! I'm using T section bars, but I haven't wheels (I have grooved wheels, but they certainly don't work when I pass a switch). Can you tell me where did you find them? Thanks

  • @333jirachi

If you have machining capability you can turn grooved wheels into flanged wheels. I have made flanged wheels from steel caster wheels. You can buy wheels from Tom Bee or maybe find them on ebay.

The only reason they tell you not to use an indoor fan outdoors is because of rain and to cover their ass from lawsuits. There's nothing wrong with using a fan outdoors.

  • @islandpondrr Heh. Im using a bathroom vent fan to obliterate snow & ice.

  • @flippy941

It really isn't designed for outdoor use but that's where it gets used. I needed a high volume fan and that one fills the bill. It is used to keep me cool and keep the mosquitos away while I'm doing track work. - Bill
