Burmese students in Singapore and MARUAH organized "Burma On My Mind" on International Human Rights Day 2007.
Human Rights in ASEAN:
The ASEAN Charter creates an ASEAN human rights body, to promote and protect human rights and fundamental freedoms. That was the first step in a long process. Everybody has a role -- including ordinary citizens like you.
Why the human rights body matters to Burma:
The human rights body will keep Burma on ASEAN's agenda. It can highlight ongoing human rights abuses and maintain pressure, and hopefully help to resolve the crisis.
