You're right. Lumumba had entered into a secret pact(before he became Prime Minister) with President Nkrumah of Ghana, and President Toure' of Guinea, plans to eventually unite the continent under an african union government had gotten underway. This happened at the 1958 All-African Conference in Ghana, with Lumumba's agreement, that was convened by Nkrumah. The premise of unification is chiefly why Lumumba was assassinated in Jan of 1961, and why Nkrumah was overthrown in Feb of 1966.

 First, Madsen glosses over Belgian atrocities of "Free State Congo" Belgian rule over Congo late 1800s simply as "Beglians left no administrative elite"! Then Madsen Doubles-down on his horrific reporting, by GLOSSING OVER THE RAWANDA GENOCIDE of 10 years ago! Madsen says "The present Rawanda govt. came to power because the plane carrying the Hutu leader was shot down" - SKIPPING OVER the HUTU GENOCIDE of Rawanda Tutsis!

the hilarious thing about this is, all my african friends here say they are better off since they became independent and the UN stepped in. they love them some UN there. they don't see how they're being abused.
