A video I put together of some of the weight pull competitors at the Denton TX show hosted by the N. Texas APBT Club. September 27-28th 2008. Music courtesy of Scot Dowd, head of Matrix Kennels and proprietor of apbtconformation.com and several other good APBT sites.

Please note, nasty anti-weight pull comments will not be approved. There's no reason for that nonsense. Honest questions are fine, but for those of you that hate a thing without bothering to understand it, go find another podium from which to spew your garbage.

  • what do you personaly think that the best age is to start a dog with weightpulling

my friend has imported a blue xxl pitbull male to belgium and is thinking to do some weightpulling with subzero

the pup is now about 4 months

please give your opinion and also possible links where to buy a good pullingharness

    thanks in advance

  • @draggerke

I start teaching my dogs to wear the harness when they're 5 or 6 months, and we do very light drags at 8-9 months. Nothing heavy until they're over a year old. Especially with an XXL dog, you want to give them lots of time to physically and mentally mature. Some harness makers include Browndog design, CDpits, Mighty Harness, Tablerock Harnesses. Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

  • can the dogs be in club and pull if they are neutered or spayed?

  • NAPBTC is a UKC club, and the UKC offers programs for spayed/neutered dogs to compete. If you visit the club's website and drop them a line, I'm sure they'd appreciate your support, no matter if your dog is neutered or not. :)

  • Where might I be able to find the lyrics for or a downloadable version of the song used in this video (Work Son by Scot Dowd)?

  • Awesome Dog!

  • @bahamutt99 : thank you for the advice. it will come in handy

  • Sure wish I could've made it out to this one.

  • I always wanted to do weight pull with my male, but he broke his knee at 12 weeks, I wasn't comfortable training him to do anything strenuous after that. Still considering it for my female.
