i got this info from the german wikipedia site, but i also saw it on the homepage of meteoschweiz. u just need to search around, i forgot the keyword for the search. on wikipedia it is "Böögg".
if u have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask me. i hope i could help u out!!
The date of the burning was set for the third Monday of the month April. If this day falls into the Karweek, then the Böögg is burnt on the second Monday. If the third Monday falls in April on eastermonday, then the celebration is shifted to the fourth Monday.
In the year 2001 the following auxiliary regulation was introduced: If the date found according to the above-mentioned rules falls into the holidays of the public school or into the week of 1st May, then an alternate date searched.
I understood that this event is traditionally held on the 3rd Monday of April. But, in 2008, it was held on April 14th, the 2nd Monday of April. Can anyone explain why the change in 2008? Did spring come early this year?

Do you know where the "rules" for determining when this event is held are available online?
We produce a Multicultural Calendar and would love a solid reference source for this one.

the rule also says that this event is never held during the vacation of the public schools

Sächsilüüte,oh yeaaa, only work half day today!
Let the bells ring to all the single hard working Züri Schweizer women!
Sort of traurig as a Californian native it was cold and raining...but that my Switzerland.
The Böögg,26 minutes,one second,another nice Züri tradition;and a blessed warm summer...
Tschüß!
