A friend of mine is from Colombia and her mum said at 15 she could get breast implants! I guess here the doctors won't do it until they are 18 and next summer she is getting them.
-
What a bad translation -.- That's not at all what the woman said .-.
-
jesus christ! really bas documentary or whatever they try did. and the translator doing wrong translation... jessica could know that a plastic cirurgy is cheaper than buy an apartment here before blame that mother. idiot american who came the first time and dont have even the capacity to sttudy about the country before turn it!
-
"Brasilian people are definedly less inhibited than americans" in wich continent does she think she is? brasil is IN america. dumb ass.
-
this show is boring as fuck
-
theres a better version of an idiot abroad with karl pilkington
-
o caralho que as pessoas pobres arranjam dinheiro para fazer cirurgia plastica... o brasil mais uma vez esta sendo resumido em merda.... cansei disso, pqp
-
the translator did a wrong translation she didn't say that she choose plastic surgery instead of an appartment she said that she did it to have her confidence back
-
IT'S ALL ABOUT WRONG TRANSLATION, GUYS. I'M BRAZILIAN AND I UNDERSTOOD WHAT THE POOR WOMAN IN FAVELA SAID. IT'S ALL WRONG AND JESSICA, UNFORTUNATELLY, GOT IT WRONG TOO... and for those ones who do not believe in me: go there, learn portuguese and you'll see.
-
@LiveOnlyForMusic That should be obvious!
-
@LiveOnlyForMusic Tottally agree, and i might sum that she the money that this women spent on that surgerys would not change her "favela situation that much" she would still be living in a shit hole if had not spent her little money on plastic surgery.... thats because our politicians are basicly onlu stealing the fucking people
-
The thing I like about this documentary is that Jessica is being REAL with her opinion-we don't all have to agree. Her point about plastic surgery over living in a better place? Is SO fucking right!!This person is a MOTHER not just a single individual with only one responsibility. The day she had her child was the day she SHOULD HAVE stopped making choices centred on only HER well-being.
-
I find it funny how you can distort everything. I am a brazilian girl in her twenties and, of course, I do know people who had plastic surgery, most of them had nose jobs. But the majority of people, even those with money, never had one. The pressure exists as it exists in any contemporary media-oriented culture, you have to look good to be sucessful. But it is far away from being considered normal to have a lot of surgical procedures, that is just sensationalist american bullshit.

@sarabeth1410 Yes it does. If you watch her lifestyle, you'll see that she doesn't have authority to give this type of advise.
-
@riodejaneir10 just because she is beautiful doesnt make it a joke :(
-
@thales0119 By the way, i've seen slums in my city and from another cities around the US. it's not a pretty picture. Actually I was robbed three times in North Philladelphia! In one month while I was working. Talking about a bad place to live! I didn't live there! I had to visit some clients! Richs can't be a parameter, but neither poors. Put them together, you have a culture within a country. And Yes. Thanks be to God! I live in a good neighborhood and studied in good schools.
-
@thales0119 I understand what you're saying, but I've ugly rich people and beautiful poor people. Again, I understand your point about rich people having money etc. But you are generalizing and affirming at the same time about rich and poor people. And the characteristics of a country are not the poorest people, education etc. I live in the US and we have a lot of poor people here too. From a country you have to see the poor and the rich class. Is like a big pie cut in little pieces.
-
@riodejaneir10 You are right, I was a bit exagerated 90% is a big number, but you know that majority of rich are beautiful and majority of poor are ugly, we know that there is a lot of poor people here. I always say that if you really wanna know the characteristics of a country you have to see the poorest people, their education, health..... Richs can't be a parameter. Maybe you live in a good neighborhood and studied in good schools u should visit the slums of your city and then you say me.
-
@thales0119 I'm sorry but i don't agree with you. I'm brazilian too and you're saying that brazilian women are too ugly and 90% of brazilians think that samba is s^#*, is wrong. Brazil is the capital of samba! Maybe you have a problem with the culture, but you exaggerated a litlle bit. That's not 100% true of what you said.

Jessica giving advice in seen beauty from within. What a joke!
-
I love JS but sorry to say; she is sort of Dumb to compare herself to this poor woman while interviewing !
ppl are being so harsh on jessica here. she even said so here that she wasn't blaming the mother but she felt sad that some ppl would spend more money on beauty then the future of their own kids. Regardless of whether or not thats the reality of brazil, this is what was real when she probably visited here. She won't be perfect in every place because she's still accustomed to north american culture , doesn't mean she is trying to be rude.

I'm feeling that the poor translation gave Miss Simpson the wrong idea. She didn't say she chose beauty over a better appartment. She said she chose feeling good about herself over a better appartment. The notion that love and care are more essential than material things and that love and care are easyer to give your children when you feel good, should not be a foreign notion to anyone. Lost in translation....
