Tuna stocks in the Pacific Ocean are under serious threat from overfishing by foreign industrial fishing fleets. The Solomon Islands - as one of the countries affected - is planning to take the control over these resources in their own hands.

  • Just like the Canadians or the Japanese "let's kill the whales/club baby seals, they eat our fish" A scapegoat is not a solution. Plus, the amount of predators isn't unnaturally high, it slowly recovers from the anthropogenic genocide on them during the last centuries

  • Just tell them give me back that filet-o-fish, give me that fish!

  • Greenpeace are wankers.

  • what does gun making have anything to do with fishing? stop comparing to win the argument and use something better.

  • ''The year 2009 may be the tipping point in human history when society responds to or ignores global warming. The UN climate meeting scheduled for Copenhagen in December may be humanity's last chance to avoid total chaos. It is too late to avoid some climate chaos. For historical comparison, we might ask: When did someone on Easter Island first wonder if cutting down all the trees to roll stone statues around was really a good idea? A generation before they annihilated themselves?

  • The solomon isl are being taken advantage of on a massive scale. I have seen it with my own eyes and have seen the cleaned out FAD markers and reefs. It is really sad. Australia is a leader in the world in terms of managing OUR waters and fish stocks, we don't let foreigners in to rape our waters. It's simple. Yes, the demand for seafood will always be there, and growing everyday with the worlds population, but it's always the poorer nations who get taken advantage of. It needs to be managed.

  • of course it's the commercial fishermen, it's motivated by greed. People always want 'stuff' that doesn't mean you have to give it to them.. that's where the financial greed gene kicks in! If you are going to deplete the earths resources, at least have the balls to own up to it!

  • ya blame the fishermen you ass holes its the market that wants them thats like going after gun makers for murders and crasies if you want to do something fight the insahiable markets not the producers of the fish

  • we are dead we are dead we are dead we are dead we are dead we are dead wake up wake up wake up wake up wake up to late to late to late to late .
