In January or February 1988 I read that Michael Hutchence was in a film called Dogs In Space, but literally just that.
INXS were still being denied success in the U.K. by the media, Need You Tonight didn't make the top 40, New Sensation I think got into the top 20 when it was released in December but was gone within 3 weeks from memory.
I found the soundtrack a few months later and bought it on vinyl. I was blown away pretty much by the whole thing especially The Endless Sea by Iggy Pop which leads into this song, Rooms For The Memory by Michael Hutchence.
It was 1990 before I actually saw the film on British t.v. (broadcast in widescreen) and released on video as the standard 4:3 screen (and dvd in 4:3 10 years ago).
Last year it was finally officially released on dvd (and now blu-ray) for the first time in its proper 2.35:1 aspect ratio after director Richard Lowenstein cleaned it up (and it's well worth getting hold of a copy).
The soundtrack now sells for a high price second hand depending on which format you're after or the country the pressing originates from. I've just found someone trying to sell some copies for $200 USD. Richard mentioned last year that a reissue of the soundtrack is fairly likely, possibly with extra tracks.
This is the edited remix 7" version of Rooms For The Memory which was released as far as I'm aware in Australia only where it went top 5.
(Strange choice for the cover artwork as it has nothing in common with the soundtrack artwork)
I thought it was 1986 that that movie came out.

@LovelyAngelsAMVs It's difficult to pin point whether the film was released in 86 or 87 after listening to all the commentaries and watching the extras on the dvd. I always thought it was 86.
The soundtrack is certainly dated to 86, this single though was released in 87.
