Why do atheists care about religion?

Sadly, you are 100% correct. To some ends justify the means, all they really worship is victory, power, absolute authority, nothing else, no God or faith really matters to them. You have to have faith that somehow the good and the bad will be rewarded or punished accordingly by some divine power so that they do not escape justice when laws fail us, and so that you are not tempted to deliver your own version of justice upon them. Clearly. Because atheism commands the murder of infidels in its central dogmatic books, ululates in victory while bathing in the blood of infants, and systematically breaks down the minds of its victims from birth into believing in horrible untruths!

While true that tyrants have used religion for their power, atheism is a far greater danger than religion is.

I don't see how? Thousands of people were killed over crusades, spanish inquisition, extremists, etc. I don't know of any major issues caused by athiests..

Start atheist scouts, under the equal protections clause they should publically get the same treatment. I'd rather have someone honest about their beliefs than someone who lies to get elected. What oath do you swear to as sacred? The Founders didn't want to endorse any one religion in order to prevent the religous wars experienced (and continues in Northern Ireland) happening here. I believe all should be free to believe what they choose, as Paine said, "that which teaches man to be good..."

Myself. I believe in myself and I personally cannot lie after making a promise. I hold my integrity sacred. While some may not find that very believable, why should someone's word that they are swearing under the name of God be any different? Ultimately no one can really tell whether that person believes in God in the first place or if his personal beliefs express that it is okay for him to lie in certain situations, there is no reliable oath in existence.
