@ian559fresno - Try to restore on a different computer. That will sometimes fix the issue.

So, how easily does the screen crack, if you are doing this, how careful would I have to be?

Is there a noticeable difference betweenna new iPad and an iPad that has had it's glass/digitizer replaced?
