  • is this just the regular xbox? If it works on the xbox 360, does xbox live still work?

    thanks,

    alex

  • The video here shows the software running on a Linux PC, not an XBOX. That's just the name of the program. As far as I know, it only works on original xboxes, and only on *modded* xboxes (with a mod chip or such). Check out their website for details. (google xbox media center or XBMC).

  • Sorry that it's cut off... that's beta video editing software for ya.

  • what song is this?

  • lol XD

    linux is the best

with linux u can do everything

  • Running homebrew software on the 360 is near impossible, microsoft made it that way to make sure it didn't get exploited like the oringal xbox. This program shown is actually run on a linux PC. XBMC has been ported to Windows, Linux, and Mac OSX for some time.

  • Orig Xbox, I know howto get it on there, if you want to know how.

  • Well WMP is made by microsoft...

And iTunes isn't a media centre, it's an iPod synchronisation program with media playing functionality.

XBMC Rocks. I used it on UnleashX until I got my 360. Now I just use that to stream from my HDD

  • I've tried a lot of media centers. And to this day the best 3 are:

    1- J. River Media Center 12*

    2- Xbox Media Center

    3- Media Monkey

*Although it is 40$, it is totally worth it if you have a huge collection of videos and music like me.

Even if JRMC12 is better, XBMC will always hold a special place in my heart since it was the only media center I used when I didn't own a PC.

Oh, and iTunes and WMP are some of the worst media center I've used! :P

  • This will be a great addition to Linux as all other media centers and media players are crap, I love the new 3d tiles in xbmc, My version don't have that on my xbox...must update! Way better than windows media center and the best thing on both xbox and now Linux! Did I mention it was my xbox that originally enticed me over to Linux... Good work Bill Gates!

  • They are both XBMC but while XBMC is awesome on the Xbox there is more potential now that it's opened to Linux. The Xbox has trouble with HD video (slow processor)which is a big limitation for some these days. I don't have an Xbox anymore so this is quite interesting especially once they have it booting straight in without it being a gui on top of a gui.
