  • phish are not california hippies they're vermont music lovers

and i think they did this album great

  • So don't dis people if they want to listen to their own interpretation of some of the greatest Rock 'n' Roll of all time and don't make presumptions about what the Velvet Underground would think. Maybe they are hippies- but whatever dude, Lou Reed has killed this song much worse than they could.

  • @punkace Who cares what Lou thinks? He played this song with Metallica and they absolutely butchered it.

  • This may have been the greatest 5 minutes in Phish history.

  • @321Green1Fork123 Not it wouldn't. The way he plays it now sounds like he just doesn't give a shit.

  • I was lucky enough to have been there.

  • @punkace it would suck if Lou Reed played this song now a days trying to imitate how he used to play it. I saw his lollapalooza 2009 performance here on youtube and its fucking great how he plays it now. I dont care if phish covered this, but Lou never killed it.

  • The all time worst performance of this is Lou Reed playing it with Metallica.

  • II believe that the poster meant that it seems like Trey's leads all have the same trajectory which kinda made their music sound like a one trick pony.

  • I was at this show. It's the third best Halloween album Phish has done live, after Remain in Light and Quadrophenia. It's the one album where they jammed out and even did Type II jamming.

  • @goodgamexxx

2nd tune is "Rock n Roll" off Lou Reed's "Rock n Roll Animal" album.

  • I love different covers of this song, but Phish definitely makes it special. Another cover that's nice is from Cowboy Junkies, but I'd rather see Phish do it live.
