They ruined NASCAR by making it to commercial and uprooting it from its southern roots, im not even from the south but I still respect where NASCAR came from, its a big joke now.

@theMstanglover you mean Brian France? Bill France Sr and Jr are dead. But you bring up a good point.... people were always complaining about things they did too.... particularly the restrictor plate.

@jimmcom i dont see how my previous comments are ignorant, having been a nascar fan since the age of 5 (1977) and seeing the last 30 years progress to what we have now. This year was the first real Chase since the dawn of the Jimmie Johnson era.

Of course you are a "real fan" who think he knows the sport better than anyone else, so you never saw watched any of this year. Tony Stewart won this champion well tied this championship with Carl, but since he had more wins he was able to brake the tie.

one has to think,that if the fans and drivers arent happy with whats goin on in nascar,that brian france and mike helton,would say lets go back to what did work?but there egos wont fit into the catagory,called WE WERE WRONG.they would rather watch racin go down the tubes than to admit their wrong.end of story

I agree with you that real racing was in 1940's-1980's, but I also believe that racing was good in the 90's too, since thats when I started watching racing. However NASCAR has sucked ever since 1.) Earnhardt's death, 2.) R. J. Reyolds and Winston leaving Nascar, 3.) Brian France becoming Chairman, and CEO of NASCAR, 4.) Development of the "Chase for the Cup" playoff system. Plus you add in the fact that only a few driver that really can drive, such as Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, and Jeff Burton

@ReDRuM868 The sport outgrew its southern roots. What ruined NASCAR was not restricting the technology arms race that started in 1985 and has continued to this day.
