It's obvious she really likes the toy, and many pets are protective of a certain toy or other pet. She's not being violent, agressive, or mean. It's a game the dog is playing with the owner. Lighten up. If the dog was agressive, she wouldn't keep playing the game.

When my husband was a child, he had a Terrier named Kristy. While she was spayed and had never had her own litter, she had this same reaction with a squeaky hot-dog shaped rubber toy.
Now, dogs were EVERYTHING to my husband's father, but he worked a lot and did not realize the attachment she had for this toy. One day when he came home from work, picked up the toy, gave it a squeeze, and threw it across the room to Kristy's horror! She wouldn't go near him for almost a week.

Don't try to reason with it, don't try to argue with it... dominate it!

My old dog Sam had a rubber hamburger toy that was her favorite toy in the whole world and if you tried to go anywhere near it she'd get upset. I remembered trying to pick it up and she took her paw and swatted it out of my hand.

My old dog Sam, had a rubber squeaky hamburger toy that she loved and protected. We called it "The Samburger"
I like her name Casey T. Corgi! Glad she has her baby! What does the "T" in her name stand for?
