I would think using a folding saw would be more practical than an axe. Takes up less space, less weight to pack, and in winter conditions requires a lot fewer calories to use. Those calories translate into heat and sweat requiring you to dry your clothes off or risk hypothermia. I don't know, but with all the wood you two chopped for the fire I would think you both worked up a pretty good sweat, how did you dry your clothes? And were you able to replace the calories?

@Dem0D1ck Just a folding saw will not do it in these cold Canadian winters. To be warm in this type of climate you need lots of fire wood. We actually run out of wood at about 5 am. Yes sweating is part of the game but we had plenty of water and food to replace whatever energy we lost. We dried are close over the fire. Thanks for watching.
