This is the third of 11 parts. In this interview, broadcast in November 1973, three months before MAME was released, Lucille Ball acknowledges she is not a singer or dancer and explains why she thinks that should not be an issue in MAME. Please note that this was well before any portion of the film had been seen by the critics or the public. Even Lucy, herself, had not yet seen any finished takes from the film.

  • Lucy was an awesome lady! The world will never be the same with out her. :-)

"Durning the day, the GOD and his angles might watch 6 hour documentary's, but in the family room... they are watching I LOVE LUCY"

  • Lucy as MAME was sensational. A great movie. She was ultra glamorous, fun. Highly Recommended.

  • Who today can sing, dance and act on the big screen? Very few, it seems. That is sad. "Mame" is also a very old-fashioned musical, and probably would be low on a list of musicals to bring to the screen today. Just like "Hello Dolly," which was a much better movie. Too bad they didn't get it right the first time with "Mame."

  • @criddic2 I don't see Peters as the right type. I could see Tomlin as Vera.

  • How can't you love Lucy? She was a true original and trail blazer! God Bless!

  • Even though I love Lucy...I had a friend of mine who's Mother was a nurse and when Lucy's daughter was in the Hospital...the lady said Lucy was extremely rude to her.

  • Mame was one of worst musicals ever produced.

  • Mame was a huge BOMB. Leonard Maltin gave it a * ½

  • For such a long career, she publicly presented herself with poise and professionalism. That takes discipline. Young folks, take note.

  • Lucy says she wasn't a dancer. But she could have fooled me. My favorite dance scene is from ILL where she danced with Van Johnson

  • @bakaboy2000 how can you say lucy is full of herself? lucy wasn't full of herself at allll.

  • @rachelazw I guess it just seems to me like she is *acting* humble. I dunno. She is just very different being LUCY than she was being LUCY. I still love her!
