Diana sounds cute but admit it, she does sound inexperienced, especially when she ad-libs towards the end but it's ADORABLE, lol. I still prefer Pretty Baby, everyone just sounds better, even the backgrounds with Diana in but Flo just steals it with her piercing operatic parts, here and there

I love this song. When i first heard it i was blown away by Florence Ballard so young but full of life totally stealing the spot from the other three members with her wailing and her background became Leading lyrics! i love pretty baby as well!

This song is so cute! Basically a rewrite of "There Goes My Baby", and Diana admits as much in her book.

@FredPellon0208 Diane wasent as much evil as she was ambitious..probably driven, a bitch, a go getter, a make it happen type person. berry gordy i dont see cold calculator. i see a man who introduced young males and females With Talent to the World whereas they would have Never been heard.. Mary, no more innocent than diane or flo..young and was living her life having fun as any young woman would have. the breakup. all three women simply Grew Up. they were teens when they Formed in 1958.

@blkshepherd That's very interesting! Throughout the years there have been so many conflicting stories about who the lead was supposed to be in the beginning of their career. Lord only knows what the actual true story of the Supremes was? Was Diane really evil? Was Flo truly a victim? Was Mary totally innocent in Flo's demise? Was Berry Gordy a cold calculator who caused their breakup? Oh well...

This Funny is Diane and Flo wrote this first song..Yet Diane sings lead..if Flo was the suppose to be lead why is she NOT leading..Diane does Tears of Sorrow, and Mary does the B side. flo does the backup..Fact is DIane wwas always the lead.

wow I love it notice how music changed drastically!

Right here anyone can hear Diane voice cut through any of the intruments.and other girls voices. its distinct. even an intrument has to be tuned. of course her voice got better.the nasal made her unique. once it was tuned it was what caught the public ear. mary and flo was jus good background singers .nothing unique. good but nothing unique. dont be mad.

there is a fourth member of the Primettes on this recording. Her name is Barbara Terry, then the wife of Funk Brother Mike Terry.

@lalaalaa90 Diana is singing lead - proof that she wasn't the best singer in the group. She only got better with heavy investment from Motown and hard work. Mary and Flo were the r e a l vocalists at this point.

wow who is singing lead they sound......wow

I know I'm the odd one here but I actually like this song better than Pretty Baby. Maybe because you can REALLY hear Florence in the background. hahaha.

lil missy, your a darlin!!! Thanks so much.
Pretty baby is the better song. Just a note, Barbara Martin no Betty McGlown are sining on this song per Dreamgirls. There are two session singers that so happened to also be named Barbara and Betty.
