Bonjour and welcome to Sofitel Brisbane Central Shining Ritual,

On days gone by the concierge in Europe was known as the caretakers of the keys to all the Royal Palaces. In our day a representative of the "Clef D'Or", distinctively known by his crossed keys, continues this long applied tradition of service, excellence and hospitality.

One of these traditions was the shining of the Palace Emblems. Today it is the hotel name plate and has taken over the emblems. Every morning at 7am one for the Concierge staff will shine the name plate clockwise, or anti-clockwise in the southern hemisphere, which reflects the way the earth moves.

The cloth that has been used is then folded five times, representing the continents of the world. This cloth is stored and controlled in a special box only by modern day caretakers.
