This video features a Lionel BNSF ES44AC diesel locomotive.

This is simply a very, very nice locomotive. In my opinion, it's one of the nicest diesel locomotives made. The detail is simply amazing. There is a full cab interior with control panels that light up and the truck frames are the nicest I have seen.

There are many, many features to this locomotive. So many that I won't list all of them here. But some of them include Lionel Legacy, Railsounds, Odyssey speed control, two ElectroCouplers, an operating smoke unit, operating radiator fans that turn off and on automatically depending on the rpm level, a frame mounted pilot, and the list goes on and on.

I just have to say the Railsounds in this locomotive are the best I've ever heard. I know sound quality is subjective, what sounds nice to one person might not sound as nice to the next, but the Railsounds this locomotive has is music to my ears.

This train is made up of auto racks by both Atlas O and MTH Electric Trains. Both companies did a nice job with these cars and they are nicely detailed.

The second locomotive is an unpowered BNSF SD60M made by MTH.

The track is K-Line tubular with O-96 curves and the train is being controlled with Lionel Legacy.

Thank you very much George. It's nice to hear that others enjoy these videos as much as I enjoy making them.

  • Awesome Locomotive! I also agree with you, these ES44AC's are the best out there! Great video!!

Thanks AO. These really are amazing locomotives. They look great and the sounds are awesome. One can close their eyes and easily pretend they are track side. And the interior detail on the cab is second to none.

  • Bro I totally agree with your assessment of the Lionel ES44AC's! I have 4 of them including both BNSF versions #'s 6431 & 6436. Anyways, thanks for the video and have a great one!

Thanks Bill. Watching your videos led me to get the BNSF. These really are great locomotives. In my opinion Lionel hit a grand slam with these.

I know exactly what that is like. I got my first Lionel for Christmas when I was six months old and I've been interested in them since.

  • Yes i love trains

You won't be disappointed. Seeing pictures and videos is one thing, but they are even better in person. I was stuck between the BNSF and Kansas City Southern. I like both of them. But the silver trucks sold me on the BNSF. The silver paint really makes the detail stand out.
