Hey guys.. I thought it would be fun to upload an old clip of my jazz choir from college. (I'm the soprano in the middle btw) These were some great times for me, as I LOVE singing this kind of music. (and miss singing it terribly) This was our smaller ensemble VoX5 singing "The Real Group's" arrangement of "It Don't mean a Thing". It's definitely a tough, but fun a capella piece.

If you enjoy this type of music, I invite you to check out these incredible vocal jazz groups:

The New York Voices (my fav!!)
Singers Unlimited (so smooth)
The Real Group
Manhattan Transfer
the Swingle Singers (not entirely jazz, but some INCREDIBLE arrangements)

and many many others!

For University ensembles check out:
University of Northern Colorado
University of North Texas
University of Southern California
University of Miami (just to name a few)

  • theres a guy..looks like hes not even singing??

  • heh.. you are probably referring to our bass (4rth person from the left). Our soundman had him turned WAY too far down. In fact, the whole balance is a little off. There's nothing we could do about that on stage, so we just sang it the best we could.. thanks for watching! ~Ej

  • Is that you in the middle Elisha.....I can't see that good it is kind of blurry....

  • yes lovie.. that's me in the middle! Sorry for the bad quality.. it came from an old video tape. Thanks for watching girl :) ~Ej

  • The Alto was too loud.... the guys were tooooo soft.

  • i think we were having some technical problems with the soundboard. I know you can barely hear our poor bass, and the guys overall are definitely mixed lower. They probably had them turned down too much.. nothing we could do about that! Ty for watching! ~Ej

  • Absolutely phenomenal! Best soprano I've ever heard! Very enthusiastic, dynamic, and articulated group! Incredible. I've like to hear some more of you guys on YouTube

  • You listed all of my favorite Jazz groups in your description. This is a great performance. An incredibly hard song, you guys pulled it off beautifully. And your high notes sounded effortless, as always.

  • This is a very difficult arrangement, and this is an excellent performance. I have a recording of it done by the Axidentals.

  • Looove it!!!

  • One of my favorite vocal jazz pieces

  • go dr. cruse!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey, I know that bass. He is very good, but his part is not coming through at all. So top heavy, but I like it.

  • Very nice.

  • The Real Group is one of my FAVORITE a capella groups! Thanks! I had no idea they did this arrangement....

  • This particular arrangement is done by 'The Real Group'. The Real Group is an amazing swedish a cappella, but they sing a lot of english songs as well. If you want to check out how great they are, just search them on youtube. Hope it helped.

  • I have any way of getting me this music, I will know there is really a god out there.
