This is very educational for network programmers. New ideas can be extracted from here.

hey nice to meet you - great video content

I moved my hosting from Australia to the USA due to my Oz company having a few issues - i did notice that my rankings went down quickly - I was # 1 for web design and now I am # 4 - because of this 3 weeks later i switched my hosting back to australia - will this have an impact all this to/fro? Mt seo guy says it will and i do trust him but you people seem to say the opposite - what should i believe..

this is bullshit, i just moved two big sites and traffic fell by 30-50% (moved couple days ago)

BUT use common sense. What if your new host is unreliable? If your new host has too much downtime or a bad reputation, logically that factors into user experience. Bad neighborhood effect. We sent X people to this IP and Y% of them gave up waiting for the server and clicked something else. Multiply X and Y and you have a math problem and a business problem. Google draws the line somewhere. Good advice about keeping both servers online. Otherwise you lose some percentage of business.

I agree on the TTL. Great video and great channel. 5 stars + favorited.
Please keep in mind that you need to set your DNS TTL to a low value well before migrating (if you had a TTL of a week, you need to do it a week before the migration to make sure that the new TTL reaches every single DNS server out there). After the migration is complete, raise your TTL again and you should be good in no time.
