@mickwald i think he didn't see what was going to hit.it's a basic thing to release the break before crash.I expect a racing driver to know that, so there is this posibility :)

@ the two top rated comments.. If he had released the brake probably he would've got airborn, hit the crowd and in general there would be a high risk that he had made even greater damage to the car.

Looking closely, he might have saved the front suspension by releasing the break right before he hit it.. although that'd take some sick skills to know, and execute.. hope he gets it fixed though :D
