Actually I'm more interested in how a Ghostbuster Ghost Trap can steal living souls? I mean, based on what Ed Spengler said about Ghosts, the Ghost Trap would contain the energy remnants left behind by dead souls right? So how does a dead soul energy containment system contain energy from a living soul?

Technically, he didn't "destroy" the ghost, he just blew it up. Like technically, when a bomb "destroys" something, it just blows it up. But in both cases, even though the original thing is still there (just broken into pieces) there is no way to put those pieces back together.

K hold on. Earlier he said that ghosts were nothing but remnants of energy left behind by us when we die and that energy can neither be created nor destroyed so how did Neil manage to "destroy" a soul? Technically that ghost wouldn't be destroyed it would reform over time giving the ghostbusters another chance at it.
