  • this is how parents really need to be like, all you see are your parents saying that you cant do this or that. im sick of those parents, just like will smith said "people cant do something themselves they want to tell you cant do it" we should all take these words into mind and try to achieve our dreams. best wishes to you all

  • Don't you ever let any one drive you like cattle do the best you can to achieve your goals and dreams, use your talents find your way in the world every single one of us has one talent and if you fall stand up wipe off the dirt and continue, get ready for the next time with knee pads and the next time with a mattress, don't ever give up, be a leader, no mercy, no retreat, move forward, be always two steps ahead, be the one, never surrender, I'd learn that from three hundred happy holidays!

So what you're saying is the paradox is situated in your misunderstanding or inability to spot semantic differences between words? If you're really studying English, I suggest you pick your books up some more, because what you are unable to grasp here are the very basics of the language. There is no paradox in this advice, nor will there ever be one. Feel free to twist and turn it around, I can only hope for you your professor will do the same with your results.

  • @DominicLED

No, sorry but your logic is flawed - no paradox here. There is a difference in meaning between the sentences, more specifically in the use of the verb "can". When he says "don't ever let somebody tell you you can't do something" can is used to express inability, whereas when you say "he just told you you can't do something..." you're using the verb to express a prohibition.
