Katrina was a CAT 3 at landfall. Hurricane Andrew was a CAT 5 at landfill in Fl and a CAT 3 in La.

Andrew and Katrina were 2 different kinds of storms. Andrew was like a giant tornado and Katrina was like a giant tidal wave/flood.

true...katrina's damage was also due to all those faulty leveys (sp?) Not as much flooding would have happened if Katrina hit florida. If andrew hit where Katrina did...New Orleans who?

i remember the stories my mom told me about Andrew...i was born 2 months later lol so it's one of those moment when you look back and you feel happy that your alive to this day ^_^

Andrew was a small storm and Katrina was a huge one,so I don't see how you can compare what they would've done.Andrew's winds were stronger,but Katrina was a cat.3.If Katrina had mantained strength as a cat.5,she would have been 10 times worse than she was,along with the surge she had and the damage she done on the Misssissippi coast.I just don't get saying Andrew would have been worse on New orleans,when Andrew hit Lousiana as a cat.3 too,and didn't do nearly the damage.

I lived in a million dollar home after Andrew hit. We made our fire in the middle of the living room......you know....there was no roof........yep,that place got mest up.Same year my wife diforced me..1992 :)
