It is civilians who have being harshly terrorised in Gaza during the past two weeks, says Dua Nakhala, a PhD student and Palestinian activist who grew up in Gaza.

  • I don't support Hamas.

    Here's a few tips:

Criticizing Israel's actions does not equal-

    1. Support for Hamas

    2. Anti-Semitism

    3. Pro-Islam

    4. Anti-American

    5. Pro-terror

Take a basic logic class and you'll see that you're making a leap of logic that just doesn't cut it for anyone but the gullible or ignorant. Thank you.

  • and ur saying watch the News? what News? the news that is controlled by Israelis?

  • @DofaDofah

?? So called occupation? Ofcourse its an illegal occupation moron. There isnt a single country in the world including the US who recognizes Israel's claims.

And yes they may have lived in Syria or Jordan but that includes Israel which is on land that was once Syria and Jordan.

  • One last try... I posted my response to a separate site because it was way too long to fit here. I have tried posting the link a half dozen times and Youtube seems to be eating the posts. The response is at this address (remove the spaces): pastie . org / 718987

  • They can't go "back" to a *place* they never were in the first place. Home isn't a placename, it's a place. If you want to roll back the clock to some mythic period where Palestinian Arabs were within the borders of Syria or [Trans]Jordan, you'll need to roll those borders back to encompass what is today Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza strip. I'm sure you don't want that.

  • The thing I find interesting about you using him as an example is that he supports my position much better than he supports yours. Nationalism is inherently legitimate, regardless of an historical basis for the nation. People have a right to invent their identities from whole cloth, and to defend them to the death. That's a basic, fundamental human right.

"BTW, what is your govt.? & Yes, foreign world govts should leave the two alone."

The US. I still want to know what your plan is.

  • "Palestinians have no right of return because its not their land to return to"

It's not? They certainly lived there before the Nakba.

    "Azmi Bishara"

He's an Arab nationalist, and framing those comments in terms of that perspective. And while I could dismiss his views by pointing out that Arab nationalism is guilty of the same "inventiveness" he accuses Palestinian nationalism of, he is, like me, against the occupation. What difference does it make what he thinks about Palestinian nationalism?

  • "Can u make a plan - i think everyone who tried has failed. I have one, do you?"

No, I can't make a plan. It's not mine to make. My interest is to end my own government's involvement, and to allow Israelis and Palestinians the space and balance necessary to find a solution among themselves. I certainly have preferences, and I could elaborate on them if you like, but it's not really my place and I recognize that.

    What's your plan?

  • Israel's continued encroachment on West Bank territory leaves them with access to 75% of Palestinian water resources. Whereas Israeli citizens are generally allowed (if not encouraged) to illegally build settlements within the West Bank, Palestinians have no power to build or even to prevent demolitions. I could go on, but it wouldn't make much difference.
