Re: An Atheist Ad Contest! #2

This is my second entry. I know this doesn't appeal so much to the heart as it does to the head, and it's only targetting moderate Christians, but I'd like feedback and there's plenty of time for more entries.

hm......all these video'sim seein seems like alot of atheists are more pissed off with the world then the christians o.o. Besides most of society doesn't actually follows the bible anyway. I feel itz just a basic guideline for whats wrong and whats right plus life is so much more interesting believing in god man... you dont get to live that long so why not spice it up a little.

Also just cause your not atheist doesn't mean your not independent =O

I'm not mad at all about your opinion. I would like to mention though that I feel it is really important to grasp the world as it truely is, not to exist in a stupor of lies. You can't claim something to be true just because you think it makes things more interesting.

Problem with denying the existence of God; Everyone has his own definition. You'd probably agree with the pantheist, and disagree with the christian. Atheism is a meaningless word, a Buddhist is an Atheist but still Religious, for example.

Atheists deny the supernatural, that's it, it's not a meaningless word. Atheists would agree with a pantheist if the pantheist said "there is nature", but would disagree with the pantheist if the pantheist said "there is nature and it is sparkly and magic and has a personality". Buddhists aren't atheists by all definitions of the word.

Nope. While the word 'atheism' literally means "rejection or denial of god or gods" when translated from Greek it is typically used by atheists to cover a denial of all supernatural things. Buddhists don't believe in a personal god but they still believe in the supernatural. The word 'atheism' was born in societies which had personal gods but the definition needs expanding to cover denial of the supernatural elements of religions which don't have a personal god.

i see wat ur saying vaatrad, but i also see how BigBates got that impression. I kinda got it too. but maybe thats just cause im christian myself and dont exactly agree with the add.... idk sometimes.

o btw. i am a christian, but i am very anti-manipulation by organized religion (like catholocism) so i dont believe everything in the bible. this is just because i think that certain things, overtime, get either mistranslated or changed by the heads of the organized religions. ie: i take the ot w

Atheism is a stance within a conversation about theism.

The word Atheism has meaning, but not the way the theist use it, like Theory = to guess!

If there were no theist, the word atheist would be gone also thus, Athism is only in the consersation of God and is not in fisical existance. God doen't exist! Atheism dosn't exist. The word illiterate would be better if theism was knowledge, however, theism is not literit knowledge. It is a faith! A Thoughtless dicision!

Ok, but that's why i think it would be better to find a new word for 'atheism'. The dictionaries still hold on to that old definition.
