this version kicks the re-recordings ass. so much more emotion when it sounds gritty, raw and unpolished....

So with a little research and finding the album, this is the version from the EP they put out before Monolith back in 2007 I believe it was. I love this song, but it's a good thing they decided to re-record it. :)

It's funny you mention 30 Seconds to Mars. When I try to describe this band to my friends, I say it's as if 30 Seconds to Mars, Muse, and Dredg had a baby.
